Over de tentoonstelling (NL)
17 (vital) boundaries toont het beste van LUCA School of Arts interieurvormgeving. Omdat ontwerpen aan LUCA gebeurt vanuit het proces, hands-on en al experimenterend, is het vitale thema van de grens er steeds aanwezig. Grenzen tussen disciplines, aan de mogelijkheden van materialen en technieken, aan de vorm en de functie, aan de methode en aan de intuïtie, aan het denken en doen,… — ze worden voortdurend bevraagd, afgetast, opgerekt, overschreden, bevestigd en/of gerespecteerd. Een grens daagt uit en een goede ontwerper wordt graag uitgedaagd. Grenzen zijn drempels die tot (zelf)onderzoek aanzetten.
Deze tentoonstelling biedt ruimte om drempels tegen te komen, te voelen en te overschrijden. Een lichtinstallatie bootst muren na en nodigt je uit om te manoeuvreren naar de volgende ruimte. Daar creëren de lichtobjecten samen met de pilaren – geïnspireerd door de rijke vlasgeschiedenis van de streek – een intieme sfeer.

17 (vital) boundaries showcases the best of the interior design program at LUCA School of Arts. Designing at LUCA is rooted in process, hands-on experimentation and exploration. Therefore the vital theme of boundaries is always present. Boundaries between disciplines, limits of materials and techniques, between form and function, between method and intuition, between thinking and doing — all of them are constantly being questioned, explored, stretched, crossed, confirmed and/or respected.
A boundary is a challenge, and a good designer welcomes challenges. Boundaries are thresholds that encourage (self-)exploration.
This exhibition offers the space to encounter, feel, and cross those thresholds. A light installation imitating walls invites you to navigate toward the next space. There, the light objects, together with the pillars inspired by the region’s rich flax history, create an intimate atmosphere.

In drie kamers, ingericht in een authentiek vlasverzendhuis, ontdek je de revolutionaire ontwikkeling die de vlasnijverheid in deze streek teweegbracht.

Texture tells the story of the linen and flax industry. A story with strong roots that bear witness to excellent craftsmanship and entrepreneurship, to bold innovation and agility and to constantly reinventing oneself. In three rooms, furnished in an authentic flax shipping house, you will discover the revolutionary development that the flax industry has brought about in this region.
