Kunst Publieke Ruimte wandeling
Over de tentoonstelling (NL)
Voor het Kortrijk Art Weekend zetten we 12 kunstwerken uit de Publieke Ruimte in de Kortrijkse binnenstad in de kijker. Via een wandelkaart kunt u de diverse kunstwerken ontdekken. De selectie zet een aantal sculpturen, fonteinen, lichtkunstwerken, installaties en beelden uit de collectie in de spotlights, zowel gekende blikvangers als subtiele ingrepen. Het is de ideale wandeling om te volgen wanneer u zich van de ene Kortrijk Art-locatie naar de andere verplaatst. De brochure met plannetje kunt u gratis ophalen in Visit Kortrijk (Begijnhofstraat 2). De wandeling blijft ook na het Kortrijk Art Weekend bestaan.

About the exhibition (EN)
For Kortrijk Art Weekend, we are highlighting 12 works of art from the public space in the Kortrijk city centre. A walking map allows you to discover the various artworks. The selection highlights a number of sculptures, fountains, light artworks, installations and sculptures from the collection, both well-known eye-catchers and subtle interventions. It is the ideal walk to follow as you move from one Kortrijk Art location to another. You can pick up the brochure with map for free at Visit Kortrijk (Begijnhofstraat 2). The walking tour will still remain after the Kortrijk Art Weekend.

Over de locatie (NL)
De publieke ruimte is de plek waar kunst en burgers elkaar op de meest toegankelijke wijze vinden. Het is dé plek voor dialoog en debat. Verbinding en ontmoeting staan er centraal. Kunst in de publieke ruimte is een essentieel onderdeel van het historische en hedendaagse cultureel erfgoed en geheugen van de stad. Ze is niet alleen vanuit historisch standpunt van belang, maar biedt ook kansen om actuele en hedendaagse sporen na te laten. Ze maakt van Kortrijk één grote culturele site, zowel laagdrempelig als kwalitatief. Een meerwaarde voor inwoners en bezoekers.
Via kwalitatieve kunstintegraties in de publieke ruimte in Groot Kortrijk, willen we op een laagdrempelige, actuele en dynamische manier met lokale en internationale kunstenaars, kunst toegankelijk maken voor een groot publiek en meebouwen aan de identiteit, leefbaarheid en de uitstraling van de stad.
Wat doen we?
We re-integreren en ontsluiten de eigen stadscollectie. Kortrijk wil de stadscollectie die nu niet zichtbaar is in de musea maximaal ontsluiten in de publieke ruimte of in openbare gebouwen. Dit kan op twee manieren. We herlocaliseren beelden in de publieke ruimte omdat de context veranderd is en we zoeken een geschikte plek voor kunst uit het depot. Daarnaast ontsluiten we de collectie via duiding en publiekswerking.
We nemen een positieve receptieve houding aan ten aanzien van voorstellen van kunstenaars en ideeën van burgers/organisaties. We toetsen projecten steeds aan de criteria en de visie om na te gaan of ze een goede plek in de stad kunnen krijgen.
We zetten proactief in op beeldende kunst bij stadsvernieuwings- of infrastructuurprojecten. Kortrijk wil kunst een belangrijke rol laten spelen bij stadsvernieuwing. Dit kan door nieuwe kunstwerken via participatietrajecten met inwoners te integreren of via geïntegreerde kunstwerken (%-regeling nl. een bepaald percentage van de totale bouwkost gaat naar kunst). We creëren een blijvend spoor na de organisatie van tijdelijke tentoonstellingen en installaties, zowel binnen de museale context als in de openbare ruimte. We dragen zorg voor het uitgebreide beeldenpatrimonium. Dit omvat de restauratie van bestaande beelden, structureel onderhoud en herstelling.

The public space is where art and citizens find each other in the most accessible way. It is the place for dialogue and debate. Connection and encounters are key. Art in public space is an essential part of the city’s historical and contemporary cultural heritage and memory. It is not only important from a historical point of view, but also offers opportunities to leave current and contemporary traces. It makes Kortrijk one big cultural site, both easily accessible and of high quality. An added value for inhabitants and visitors.
Through high-quality art integrations in public spaces in Kortrijk and its suburbs, we want to make art accessible to a large audience in an accessible, contemporary and dynamic way with local and international artists, and help build the identity, quality and image of the city.
What we do.
We reintegrate and unlock the city’s own collection. Kortrijk wants to maximise access to the city collection that is currently not visible in the museums in public spaces or in public buildings. This can be done in two ways. We relocate artworks in public spaces because the context has changed and we look for a suitable place for art from the depot. We also open up the collection through clarification and public interaction.
We adopt a positive receptive attitude towards artists’ proposals and ideas from citizens/organisations. We always test projects against the criteria and the vision to see whether they can be given a good place in the city.
We proactively use visual art in urban renewal or infrastructure projects. Kortrijk wants art to play an important role in urban renewal. This can be done by integrating new works of art via participation processes with inhabitants or via integrated works of art. We create a permanent trail after organising temporary exhibitions and installations, both within the museum context and in public spaces. We take care of the extensive sculpture heritage. This includes the restoration of existing sculptures, structural maintenance and repair.
