Academie Kortrijk en DASH presenteren met trots STUDIOLO, een nieuwe tentoonstelling van de Belgische kunstenaar Paul Casaer. De officiële opening vindt plaats op vrijdag 25 oktober om 19u, in aanwezigheid van de kunstenaar. De tentoonstelling loopt tot 27 november en is gratis te bezoeken van zondag tot en met woensdag van 14u tot 18u.
Casaer, geboren in Etterbeek (1967), staat bekend om zijn grootschalige metalen sculpturen waarin hij de complexiteit van de consumptiemaatschappij onderzoekt. Met STUDIOLO richt hij de focus op zijn eigen atelierpraktijk. Deze tentoonstelling is geïnspireerd op de 15e-eeuwse studiolo, een persoonlijke studiekamer, en verkent het continue proces van toevoegen en wegnemen in het scheppingsproces. Casaer reconstrueert zijn atelier als een verplaatsbare module en stelt objecten tentoon die de toeschouwer uitnodigen om op een contemplatieve manier naar de wereld te kijken.
Tekeningen, boeken, instrumenten en curiosa worden getransformeerd tot sculpturen, verbonden door een reeks werkwoorden die de kunstenaar heeft gedistilleerd uit zijn creatieve proces. Dit werk biedt een intrigerende inkijk in de intieme dynamiek van Casaer’s artistieke praktijk.
Paul Casaer is docent aan de Kask, School of Arts in Gent. Zijn werk werd internationaal tentoongesteld, onder meer in Museum M Leuven, Middelheimmuseum Antwerpen, Fotomuseum Antwerpen, Be-Part Waregem, CAB Brussel, Witte de With Rotterdam, en het Belgisch Paviljoen op de Architectuurbiënnale van Venetië.

Academy Kortrijk and DASH are proud to present STUDIOLO, a new exhibition by Belgian artist Paul Casaer. The official opening will take place on Friday, October 25 at 7 PM, in the presence of the artist. The exhibition runs until November 27 and is free to visit from Sunday to Wednesday, 2 PM to 6 PM.
Casaer, born in Etterbeek (1967), is known for his large-scale metal sculptures that explore the complexities of consumer society. With STUDIOLO, he turns his focus inward, reflecting on his studio practice. Inspired by the 15th-century studiolo, a private study room, this exhibition examines the continuous process of adding and subtracting within the creative journey. Casaer reconstructs his studio as a movable module, showcasing objects that invite viewers to contemplate and engage with the world around them.
Drawings, books, instruments, and curiosities are transformed into sculptures, linked by a series of verbs distilled from the artist’s creative process. This body of work offers a fascinating insight into the intimate dynamics of Casaer’s artistic practice.
Paul Casaer teaches at KASK, School of Arts in Ghent. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at Museum M Leuven, Middelheimmuseum Antwerp, Fotomuseum Antwerp, Be-Part Waregem, CAB Brussels, Witte de With Rotterdam, and the Belgian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale.

Onze centrale hal in een mooi historisch gebouw op de Houtmarkt fungeert als tentoonstellingsruimte. Hier tonen we met trots de artistieke werken van zowel eigen studenten als de professionele kunstenaar.
