Co-Hou­se

‘Only in my dra­wings can I live’

Various artists inha­bit the rooms of a beau­ti­ful 18th-cen­tu­ry heri­ta­ge building.

Under the impe­tus of host Wit.h and dri­ven by a strong belief in col­la­bo­ra­ti­on, owner­ship of the exhi­bi­ti­on is shared.

Co-Hou­se embo­dies an inclu­si­ve way of tem­po­ra­ry ​‘co-living’ and ​‘co-cre­a­ti­on’. The buil­ding not only forms the fra­me­work within which eve­ry­thing takes pla­ce, but also deter­mi­nes the con­tent. The con­cept of ​‘home’ is the com­mon thread.

Dri­ven by a gre­at desi­re for a home, Chris­ti­ne Garez draws end­less series of hou­ses. Piet Lema­hieu trans­forms his room in the faci­li­ty into an artis­t’s bio­to­pe and is now moving this nest to one of the exhi­bi­ti­on rooms.

Mathieu Lobel­le some­ti­mes car­ries his hou­ses on his back like a rucksack. The desig­ners of the Ami­li Haha fas­hi­on label regard clothing as a home: a way to pro­tect, hide or warm yourself.

Paul Duhem paints faces and doors, repe­a­ted end­les­sly in ever-chan­ging vari­a­ti­ons and colours. Hou­ses are redu­ced to clo­sed doors and faça­des. Are the clo­sed doors self-portraits?

The duo Line Boogaerts and Dit­mar Goes open the win­dows of the hou­se. The duo plays with transpa­ren­cy, the inter­ac­ti­on bet­ween insi­de and outside.

And the hou­se is popu­la­ted with various colour­ful cre­a­tu­res: the sis­ter of Down the giant and the cou­ple Kel­ly and Bjorn. With work by Fran­ky Delae­re, Kel­ly Denu­we­lae­re, Bjorn Dec­leir and others.

As a visi­tor, you are taken into this artis­tic refu­ge, full of uni­que visu­al storylines.

In col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with De Beel­de­rij Tor­hout, Kunst­werk­plaats De Zand­berg Harel­be­ke and Muse­um dr. Guis­lain Ghent.

Wit.h is een toon­aan­ge­vend kun­sten­cen­trum dat artis­tie­ke expe­di­ties en ten­toon­stel­lin­gen ont­wik­kelt op een inclu­sie­ve en ver­nieu­wen­de manier. Van­uit ons karak­te­ris­tie­ke erf­goed­pand in de Groe­nin­ge­straat 25 Kort­rijk, cre­ë­ren we een plat­form waar pro­fes­si­o­ne­le kun­ste­naars en kun­ste­naars met een beper­king of psy­chi­sche kwets­baar­heid samen­wer­ken in col­lec­tie­ven. Bij Wit.h staat artis­tie­ke gelijk­waar­dig­heid cen­traal: we gelo­ven in de kracht van samen­wer­king en de uit­wis­se­ling van idee­ën, onge­acht ach­ter­grond of beper­king. Als inter­na­ti­o­naal erkend cen­trum bie­den we kun­ste­naars de ruim­te om gren­zen te ver­leg­gen, te expe­ri­men­te­ren en samen kunst van hoge kwa­li­teit te creëren.
