About the exhibition
The exhibition ‘Analyses’ at space DOORN explores the different ways in which artists analyse their surroundings, ranging from their immediate physical environment to their discipline and the spirit of their time as a broader environment.
In the second exhibition, ‘The Sublime’ at space NOORD, we examine the various aspects of the sublime in art. Within this exhibition, we explore how artists do not merely depict their surroundings, but rather evoke their overwhelming — at times even unsettling — nature.
About the location
Amidst a row of faded industrial buildings from a bygone era, number 10 stands out with its trio of blue-green doors — a striking splash of color in the Doornstraat. This is where you step into the DA Collection.
In the various exhibition spaces – Doorn and Noord – a selection of the collection is presented through rotating exhibitions. This collection, driven by the power of the image, spans from the 17th century to the present day, revealing itself to visitors in ever-evolving forms. It is a living collection, continually reimagined through new combinations and thematic explorations. Some works may feel familiar; the collection is actively involved in lending pieces to exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
You enter the collection through a large exhibition space currently hosting a show on structures. This exhibition explores structures in visual art in various forms — from geometric frameworks to the underlying structures of visual art itself.
From there, a walk through the herb garden leads you to the second part of the collection. Here, three exhibition rooms currently present The Hand Follows The Mind, a show dedicated to works on paper — ranging from drawings and sketches to selected graphic works. This exhibition takes the development and dissemination of ideas as its starting point.
A visit to this exhibition leaves a lasting impression of the astonishing power of both the visual and the conceptual within the visual arts.
