TRIDENT
Heidi Leman, Nele Vanthomme, Femke Talpe
About the exhibition
The Rotary Culture Prize for Visual Arts 2025 has been awarded to Heidi Leman.
In addition, Nele Vanthomme and Femke Talpe have been recognized as prizewinners for their work.
The exhibition ‘Trident’ is curated by artist Klaas Rommelaere (Roeselare, 1986). Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent and known for his visual work with needle, thread, and textiles, Rommelaere also defined the theme for this year’s competition:
“Memory: a thread through time and space.”
The laureate receives, in addition to participation in the exhibition, a personalized mentorship program led by Rommelaere. This includes a studio visit, portfolio review, and curatorial support in preparing the exhibition.
The Artists
Heidi Leman (Specialisation) presents a series of sculptures and drawings. Her work is deeply inspired by imagery of decay, ruins, and crumbling architecture.
From the dystopian, we move into the dreamlike world of Nele Vanthomme (Project Atelier). In her poetic universe, she combines found materials into new immersive installations.
The textile works of Femke Talpe (Textile Art) appear delicate and organic. They captivate through their colour and poetic resonance.
The exhibition, featuring the work of the laureate and prizewinners, opens on Friday, October 24 at 7:00 PM, and can be freely visited during the third edition of Kortrijk Art Weekend.
The exhibition runs until November 28, 2025.
The Rotary Culture Prize is organized by Academie Kortrijk, in collaboration with the three Rotary Clubs of Kortrijk and the City of Kortrijk, aiming to support promising artists and offer them a platform within the broader cultural field.

About the location
Academie Kortrijk toont!
