About the exhibition

Spiritual chaos – exhibition as part of Memento Word Festival

We live in times when everything seems to happen at once. It’s a lot. It’s busy. It’s absurd.

COUPEE Collage Collective is happy to add to that.

With a love for nonsense and meaning, they embrace today’s absurdity and challenge artists Nicolas Van Parys, Gudrun Somers, Michael Bouchez and Bram Antheunis to give it artistic form.

The result is Spiritual chaos:

a field, a clown, a laboratory.

Art written in nonsense.

Legible, but also open to interpretation.

Come along — because sometimes nonsense is exactly what is needed.

In addition to the work of COUPEE, you are also invited to Jan Cattebeke and Sofie Bauwens’ Eiland Traktor (Traktor Island).

Discover a tsunami of absurd but at the same time honest texts, illustrations and stories, born out of their friendship and shared imagination.

You can admire the results from 13 to 29 March at 4n20 during the weekends from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Participating artists: Nicolas Van Parys, Gudrun Somers, Michael Bouchez, Bram Antheunis, Jan Cattebeke and Sofie Bauwens

This exhibition has been organised in collaboration with Kortrijk Public Library, 4n20 Ruimte voor Kunst, Kunstwerkplaats de Zandberg and COUPEE collage collective and can be viewed on Friday 13 March 2026 from 6 pm to 10 pm and on Saturdays 14, 21 and 28 March 2026 and Sundays 15, 22 and 29 March 2026, from 2 pm to 6 pm.

About the location

4n20 is a non-profit space for art in a former weaving factory. A space that breathes history, a relic of Kortrijk’s textile past. The studio has a soul and is the carrier of the art that is shown there. 4n20 annually organizes a number of exhibitions with a diversity of contemporary works of art, in which different disciplines are discussed. 4n20 offers space for visual art by established and lesser-known artists. There is also room for experimentation, music, dance and word art.
